Hi, I am

Lori!

I am a licensed counselor and board certified music therapist who has specialized in working with trauma for most of my career. I love working with teens and college age young adults. It is such an exciting time of life, but stress, depression, anxiety, transitions and changes are often tough to deal with. I can help. I do have experience working with LGBTQ+ teens and young adults. Being a board certified music therapist, I have experience utilizing Music and Creative Arts therapy, so I would definitely be a good fit for someone who is looking to bring their creative self to counseling. If you’re not, don’t worry! I have a person centered approach that focuses on YOU and what you need to get to where you'd like to go.

How I Can Help...

I am a Master's level therapist and Music Therapist. I have specialized in working with adolescents and college age students, although I have experience with a wide range of people. I have spent years focusing on trauma and have training in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as well as Mindfulness Based Trauma Therapy.

I like to use a Person-centered approach. What this means is that I really like to get to know you, what your goals are, and what has meaning in your life. From there, we’ll work together to identify what things you might like to learn more about, consider, or change. I do this by bringing my experience as a Master’s level therapist and Music Therapy and my years working with individuals who have experienced some of life’s most challenging issues- trauma, mental health issues, family concerns, and more. I have a warm and open approach and am interested in empowering my clients. While I have training in a variety of approaches, I generally like to take a trauma focused approach. This includes not thinking of the therapy process as “what is wrong with you?” but approaching it with a curiously of who you are and what you’ve experienced that brings you to how you interact with your world today.

I have specialized training in working with LGBTQ+ clients, with a special focus on the adolescent and young adult age groups. I provide a affirming space to explore a variety of related issues, and I offer assessments and letters for medical affirming procedures.

When I am Not at Work....

While I love the work I do, I have many passions outside of work. I love going for walks with my two active dogs, Eisley and Leia. This is usually a great time to binge my favorite podcasts or listen to some quality music. Beyond that, reading and gardening are two of my biggest areas of self care- and I am working on getting back to my yoga practice! Although I love the sun and the beach, I am often found in a freezing cold ice rink, cheering on my two sons who love to play hockey no matter what the season is!
