Hi, I am

LaNina!

I am a clinical psychologist and can provide counseling in 40+ states. Please click on this map to see your state. Please click on this map to see the states that I am licensed in.https://psypact.org/mpage/psypactmap

I use my training to empower others to accomplish new things, implement healthy practices and achieve that joy that can outlast life's negative circumstances. I have a toolbox of therapeutic techniques that include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Client Centered Therapy (CCT) approaches. Treatment is client focused and may incorporate multiple approaches for various client goals.

My goal is to help dispel shame and self-defeating thoughts/behaviors that are a barrier to change and create an unhealthy self-image. I am focused on caring for all aspects of my clients, not only their mental health. I understand how other aspects of health impact our overall health. Thus, I am determined to support clients in developing lifestyle changes that sustain positive mental and emotional health. My approach is direct, but caring, and clients typically appreciate that directness as it stimulates their growth.

How I Can Help...

My ideal client has experienced hardships and is interesting in assessing their strengths and working together towards healthy goals to manage depression, anxiety or any stress that might impede achieving stability. I am best at providing clients a realistic view of their struggles, how these issues developed, what factors maintain these issues, and practical steps toward change. I routinely assess a client's worldview/spirituality/guiding principles to use these values as a tool to motivate and navigate clients towards their ideal self. Together, we work to dispel shame and self-defeating thoughts/behaviors that are a barrier to change and create an unhealthy self-image.

I have several years of experience working with adults with severe and persistent mental health conditions, with adults seeking to manage their emotional issues while achieving certain lifestyle goals, and those seeking personal exploration. Also, I have specialized training from Gallaudet University in providing Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing adults with psychotherapy services in sign language. I am also proficient in American Sign Language and Signed English.

When I am Not at Work....

When I am not at work, I enjoy laughing with my family and friends. I am in love with the large bodies of water (ocean, lakes, etc) and horses. When I get the rare chance to enjoy some screen time, I enjoy romantic comedies or a good action movie, preferably with superhero's or martial arts! I also enjoy meditating on the beauty of nature and gardening.
